The gospel

What is the gospel?

The gospel is a word that means “good news”

The story began at the beginning: God created a perfect world free from sin, sorrow and sickness. He created people in His image, (Genesis 1:27).

But in man’s rebellion he chose to sin (Genesis 3:1-7); we have all rebelled against God. That rebellion looks different in everyone of our lives; we have all chosen to sin; that sin destroyed man’s perfect relationship with God.

But God in His grace and mercy, sent his son Jesus to the world to save us from our sin.

Jesus lived a perfect life we should have, and died the cruelest death, we should have died (penalty for sin is death). So that anyone who turns to Jesus, repenting of their sin, and trusting in his sacrifice for us on the cross, will receive eternal life through Jesus.

But the good news keeps getting better: Jesus rose from the dead three days later, defeating death & the grave, conquering sin and all of it’s shame.

Now we know longer have to live in fear, for all who turn from their sin and put their trust in Christ Jesus’s sacrifice for us on the cross, we will be saved from our sin, and raised with Christ to a new life.
